Swim around Barbados 1

DescriptionJohn Mike Peterkin and Peter GIbbs attempted to swim around Barbados non-stop In August 2008, to raise money for several local children's charities, under the auspices of the Canadian Womens' Club. Photos taken from Horizon Helicopters' Robinson 44 with the brother of one of the swimmers at the controls. The attempt had to be abandoned that evening as heavy swells on the East Coast wore the swimmers out, and a night of swimming in rough north swells would just have been too dangerous. Garrison Savannah from the air

DescriptionThe home of horse racing (and the original home of polo) in Barbados. In the bottom left of the photo can be seen historic buildings such as the old regimental barracks which are now the home of the Barbados Defence Force, and the old Officers Club with clock tower which now houses the Savannah Club and the offices of the Barbados Legion. At bottom center you can see the old fort walls, beneath which was the powder magazine, as well as the old road that used to be public access to the Drill Hall beach. Contact photographer |
