Another of the numerous mill walls in Barbados, dating from the time when wind power was used to process sugar cane.

Harrison Point Lighthouse, St. Lucy - Fresnel Lens +

Description

The remaining bits of the Fresnel Lens that used to focus the beam of the lighthouse lamp - the lamp would have been totall enclosed within four of these lenses, and would have rotated to produce the "sweeping" effect of the lighthouse.

The other half of the lens enclosure is in pieces on the ground at the base of the lighthouse.

Harrison Point Lighthouse, St. Lucy +

Description

Panoramic view from the Cement Plant in Hangman's Bay to Norse's Bay in St. Lucy.  The foundation stone was laid in June 1925 and the light was officially lit in April 1926.

Also visible is the US Navy listening post / prison.

Both now sit abandoned, rusting and vandalized, like so many of our historic buildings.

Cranes +

Description

Abandoned cranes (since then removed) just South of Black Bess quarry. They almost look like they could walk, like some creepy thing from "The Wall" movie, or a Tim Burton film.
